Ohio: ACURA NSX SUPERCAR TO BE PRODUCED

Honda today announced that the highly anticipated Acura NSX hybrid supercar will be built at a new facility in central Ohio, representing factory no. 3 in the Buckeye state. Honda will spend $70 million transforming a former logistics center, resulting in a new 184,000-square-foot production plant that the automaker calls a Performance Manufacturing Center, located just a few miles from Honda’s American R&D building and already existing Marysville plant. Featuring less automation and more hand-built components than the other facilities, the new factory will employ 100 skilled workers drawn from existing Marysville operations, while the NSX engine will be assembled nearby at Honda’s Anna, Ohio, engine plant. Production of the Acura NSX is scheduled to begin sometime in 2015.

CONCEPT: MERCEDES-BENZ GLA

Hailed as displaying a “coupe-like evolution” in the compact SUV segment, the Mercedes-Benz GLA concept is featured in a two-minute video ahead of its official unveiling at the 2013 Auto Shanghai. In addition to a sporty sensibility powered by a 208-horsepower four-cylinder turbocharged engine, the GLA boasts a number of unique luxury details, including headlamps with laser projectors, air vent illumination that changes color depending on the temperature (white at 71 degrees Fahrenheit, blue for cooler temps and red when the heat’s turned on), plus externally mounted 3D/HD cameras that offer the driver a clear birds-eye view of the vehicle’s surroundings. Peep the video below.

Subaru WRX concept….hmmmm

Subaru WRX concept….hmmmm

Subaru did all it could to keep the surprise under wraps, yet sketches of the WRX Concept leaked prior to its official unveiling at the New York International Auto Show. The initial illustrations looked promising and the actual vehicle did not disappoint eager fans either. Displayed in its iconic metallic blue exterior, its aerodynamic body is aggressive and sleek. Interesting light designs were the focal point from the front and the rear, but its side silhouette was nothing short of stunning, too. Neon yellow hints on the WRX emblem, exhaust pipe trim, and brake calipers were a nice touch, complementing the whole car. No actual details of its power train were given, aside from a mention of a new turbocharged engine being developed.

FINALLY! 2014 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28

FINALLY! 2014 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28

WOW!!  Chevrolet has revealed a refreshed Camaro for the 2014 model year. Most importantly, with the new Camaro comes the resurrection of the Z/28 moniker, which will be powered by the amazing 7.0L LS7 V8 engine mated to a six-speed Tremec TR6060 manual transmission. This puts the output of the Z/28 at 500 howling horsepower, and 470 pounds-feet of torque, fitting perfectly between the 426 horsepower Camaro SS, and the 580 horsepower Camaro ZL1. In many track-oriented circles, the 2014 Camaro Z/28 is perhaps the most capable Camaro ever.

The claim that the Z/28 is a 3sec average on a lap faster than the ZL1!  This is thanks to chassis revisions that allow the Z/28 to grip at up to 1.05 lateral G forces. Then there’s the Brembo brakes, which provide 1.5G of stopping force. And last, but certainly not least, is the fact that the Z/28 is 300 pounds lighter than the mighty ZL1, thanks to several incremental tweaks, ranging from thinner rear window glass, to lighter wheels.

The La Ferrari is powered by a hybrid system that features a 6.3-liter V-12 engine paired with two electric motors. Known as HY-KERS, the system delivers 950 horsepower and “more than” 660 pound-feet of torque.

Look for the La Ferrari to post a 0-60 time of less than 3.0 seconds and a top speedin excess of 217 mph. We already know that it will lap Ferrari’s Fiorano race track in less than 1:20, which is 5.0 seconds faster than the Enzo and 3.0 seconds faster than the F12 Berlinetta.
